Brandy Brockus NEXTAFF Franchise Support Manager

What is a star? If you ask Merriam-Webster Dictionary, you may get something like “a self-luminous gaseous spheroidal celestial body of great mass which produces energy by means of nuclear fusion reactions.” But if you were to refer to the world of staffing the answer is much simpler. Brandy Brockus.  

In less than 3 years in the staffing industry, she has accomplished more than most. Since her introduction to Nextaff, she has earned several achievements, promotions, and certifications. All while looking forward to adding more very soon, with the most recent Certified Staffing Professional (CSP) and Technical Service Certified (TSC). 

Starting as a Franchise Support Coordinator, it only took 6 months before being “bumped up to Franchise Support Specialist”, Ms. Brockus tells me. Within a year she had found herself as a Franchise Support Lead. Brandy began gaining attention quickly, continuing to grow her skills and pursue a passion of mentoring others. Helping other staffing professionals connected with the ASA to achieve personal and professional goals. Not long after, she found herself with the title of Nextaff’s Franchise Support Manager. After speaking with her colleagues, it is no surprise as to how it all happened so quickly.  

Her ability to manage larger projects and deeper understanding of the staffing industry are testaments to her dedication to personal and professional development.” Said James Windmiller, Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer of Nextaff. He went on to explain that Brandy is “instrumental in supporting our Franchise relationships.”  

There is no doubt that anyone would love to have such an asset on their team. She continues to prove her value by adding on to an already extensive list of achievements, with her new ASA credentials. “This certification places Brandy among the top in her field,” James continues, “showcasing her dedication to upholding industry standards.” 

ASA stands for the American Staffing Association and, according to Brockus, it is the “backbone for the staffing industry. They provide a platform where you can collaborate with other staffing industry professionals.” Overall, they are the voice for U.S. staffing, recruiting, and workforce solutions.  

The ASA has 4 separate certification programs. Many staffing professionals have struggled to receive just one after being in the industry for five or more years. Brandy Brockus on the other hand, has already achieved the honor of having 2 of these extensive certifications (CSP, TSC). As of April 2024, she is thus far working towards the 3rd (CHP).  

The CSP and TSC go hand in hand with Brandy’s work in the world of staffing. With all the different sectors of work she covers it is important to be knowledgeable and continue to grow in her role. One might say she is the jack of all trades as Brandy is able “to cover federal regulations, employment law, HIB Visas, Per Diem, worker classifications” and many other staffing-related needs.  

Speaking with Brandy Brockus, she is true to her word, and a woman who stands by her moral values. In and outside of work she explains that she thrives to not only be a perceptive leader in the community but to do so by example. When asked what made her pursue these goals Brandy said “I wanted to learn more about the staffing agency and how it worked. What the differences were between us and our competitors.” That way when working with Nextaff Franchise owners “it lets them know that we are knowledgeable here at support, they’re not just out on their own.”  

When not in the workplace there appears to be no shift in where her values lay. Continuing to be a guide and role model, Brandy has a 4-year-old daughter who takes after her mother; often taking the lead when in social situations with her peers. Ms. Brockus’ passion for mentorship is proving to be effective.  

Wrapping up my time with Brandy Brockus she had a few last words of advice. “It is an open book, I would recommend using the study guide, and putting sticky notes where important info was mentioned.”  For those who are interested in receiving your ASA certifications, Brandy encourages you to do so though admitting it may prove to be difficult. Brandy went on to explain “I did fail the first time” but “I tried again, and I did, I did pass! It made it even more rewarding.”  

Through and through, Brandy has shown her worth and continues to unveil hidden potential. With an impressive list of achievements, and her drive to better improve the lives of those around her, Nextaff can only imagine the impact she will make in the staffing industry. “Her journey is inspiring and highlights the value of professional development,” said Windmiller. Brandy is part of what makes a company special, an X-Factor that separates herself from the rest. One may even say she is a star.

Nextaff was just named a finalist of the 2023 Franchising@WORK Awards by Franchise Business Review. The award recognizes franchise companies with the highest employee satisfaction based on an independent survey of corporate franchise staff.
