These Techniques Will Help Improve Your Productivity

by how much you can do in any given shift. So how can you improve your productivity so you can find a great new job? Here are a few techniques you can start using today to help you improve productivity for your current job or any future opportunities.

Track Your Time

The best way to keep yourself accountable is to track your time. You can use apps or online calendars to help you stay on track, or you can go old-fashioned by writing it down on a planner or desk calendar. This also helps you stay focused on upcoming projects and have the satisfaction of crossing off tasks once they’re completed.

Give Yourself Breaks

Part of the reason we become unproductive is that we push ourselves too hard. Trying to force yourself to work doesn’t give you the burst of productivity you want. Instead, step away for a minute. You can go for a walk, take a coffee break, or focus on another task that you find more enjoyable. You’ll find you have a better frame of mind when you return to your work.

Write Your Goals

Did you know that you are 42% more likely to accomplish your goals simply by writing them down? Much like tracking your time, writing down your goals builds accountability. You can see what you wanted to do and even make adjustments along the way. It’s okay if your goal changes; reevaluate regularly and rewrite your goal as it evolves.

Set and Commit to Deadlines

Talk to anyone who works with specific deadlines, such as journalists, and they’ll tell you that setting times when tasks are due will help you accomplish them. Even if you’re the kind of person who procrastinates up until the last minute, if you don’t have a timeframe for when something needs to be done, you’re not likely to do it at all.

Find Accountability Partners

You don’t have to do it alone. Sometimes it helps to have accountability partners. This is just someone else who also has tasks to accomplish, even if they’re not the same. You can keep up with each other and provide encouragement. It can be easier to complete a task if you know someone else is cheering for you.
